A NCCT Certification Will Give You the Credentials to Pursue More Career Opportunities

Becoming a National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) Certified healthcare professional allows you to pursue a wider range of careers in Medical Assisting or Medical Billing and Coding.

If you’re a Career Training Academy (CTA) graduate or student who is currently on their externship, you may apply for this certification on the following dates outlined in the table below.

NCCT Test Prep classes are also available through Career Training Academy. Please use the contact information below to receive further details on dates and times available.

Please Note* Beginning July 15th all NCCT Exams will be online. Prior to July 15th the Medical Assistant Certification Exam will be a paper exam. There will be a classroom limit of 15 examinees, for all online test dates. If we need to add another exam date to accommodate overflow we will upon notification of a full schedule.

NCCT Testing Registration in 3 Easy Steps:

Students must be registered no later than 2 weeks (14 days) prior to the test date.

Step 1:  Contact Career Training Academy, April Stone, Externship Coordinator at or 724-337-1000 to register with CTA and get important school code information.

Step 2:  All applicants are required to fill out an online account, confirm their email address, and then proceed to fill out an online application. The student can go to to create their online account.

The online account will give students access to many features including completing the online application, uploading documents directly into their account, online review materials if purchased, your certification test results, online continuing education credits and CE transcripts.

Step 3:  Be Prepared with these instructions for test day:

  • Students need one form of identification. Must be a government issued photo ID, drivers license or state issued ID.
  • Arrive 30 minutes prior to test time
