Career Training Academy (CTA) hosted the Lower Burrell Police Department for active shooter ALICE (Alert, Lock down, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) training to furnish information on how to handle the threat of an intruder or active shooter. This training is based on acceptable tactics for handling an individual person or a group of professionals intent on violence. The training has been given in schools nationwide and is offered by local police departments by officers who have been specially trained to deliver the applicable information.
ALICE training consists of an approximately 45-minute presentation and an hour of practical training, during which time air guns with soft pellets will be used. Students should wear jeans and long-sleeved T-shirts or sweatshirts the day of the training. All students will be provided with safety goggles for the training. Anyone with a medical condition or who is pregnant will be asked to forgo the practical training portion of the program.
